Gibraltar

Saturday 29th August - Last night we went to see a comedian/magician!! He was more of a showman than anything and reminded me of Peter -when he is being my brother and being silly - he even looked like him! Today we didn’t arrive in Gibraltar till 1pm and off the ship about 2. Eight of us went in a taxi van which took us right around the town, up the top of the “rock”, and into the caves and tunnels. We also got close and personal with the Barbary apes which run wild at the top. They are not shy of humans but they ask that we not feed them, in fact, you can get fined if you do, however the guides gave Mason some food and they took it from him, one of them even went into his pocket to get food he had put there. They jump on your shoulders and arms and if you are wearing chains around your neck will try and take them off. Our guide dropped us off in town and we wandered around for a while, had a drink and got some cheap alcohol. Everything in Gibraltar is duty and tax free but most things still reasonably expensive in NZ money except the alcohol. We returned to the ship about 8pm after a truly amazing day. Had dinner at the buffet and we left at 10pm after which we had a hot tub and to bed.

Thank you for your blog. Would you mind telling me if you booked the Taxis Van before getting there or did you just pick it up on the wharf?
