Wednesday 5th August - I was feeling a bit grotty today with a bit of a sore throat and sneezing, blocked nose etc so we stayed in bed till late and mucked around the rest of the day, had a hot tub before tea and went to the buffet for something to eat then to bed for an early night.
Thursday 6th August – A big day today crossing the Panama Canal – Mason was up at 4am and I followed him at 5am. Went into the first lock at 6am so stayed around for a while and took some photos then left Mason there while I had breakfast and swam for an hour. Went upstairs to have a shower and check my emails and who should come up on Skype but John! It was fantastic talking to you, John, and knowing that you were watching and afterwards hearing from you by text and Paula as well. Wish we could have let you know where we were – we were on the top deck at the front of the ship, on the left of a big white mast or something. . Had been hoping some of the family were able to watch as we went through but was unable to text as had no service until after we reached the other side and were into the Atlantic ocean. We finally cleared the canal at 2.15pm. Mason died after that and slept for a couple of hours while I went to the library, walked around the deck and did some visiting. Time for dinner in the dining room then a variety show – the magician was particularly good. We have a big day tomorrow arriving in Cartagena at 8am and leaving at 3pm – we plan to visit the old city. Aruba the next day then two days at sea followed by Bermuda.

Good seeing your pics maree as you approached the Miraflores loch which we did not see as the camera was on the left right sdie of your ship and about a quarter of the way up so we could not see ships approaching the loch but as I said your white bow came into view slowly from the left as you went into the loch. it was a pity you were not on the right hand loch as we would have had a closer view of you and perhaps had we had known where you were and you had waved something we would have seen you!! next time! say safe
ReplyDeleteHi Maree, I noticed that you mentioned Skype. The inlaws are joining the Dawn in Southampton and have Skype on their laptop. I was told that it wouldnt work onboard ship.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me an info?
thanks
