28/12 -   Up early, packed and down to breakfast - we find cereal and fruit and a lovely omelette sets us up for the day and we don't need more  than a piece of fruit for lunch which we can take from the dining room at breakfast time.  We went first to find an ATM to get some $US to take with us for South America then on to the zoo. We were really surprised, the Denver Zoo is huge and we spent two hours there and didn't get to see it all. The tropical area was amazing and we spent quite some time there. Had lunch and then it was on to the Airport to return the car and  catch the free shuttle to the terminal to check in for our flight to San Francisco.  The Denver Airport is huge and even though it was only a domestic flight the security was exceedingly thorough!!  It took us half an hour to pass through that!! We had to remove our jackets, any scarfs, AND our shoes then, as our hand luggage went through the scanner we had to step into a round clear cylinder, hold our arms in the air and feet apart. A scanner seemed to zip around us and we were allowed to come out the other side. I had to have a pat down around my knee as an orange circle showed up in that area? What could it be?Should I be worried?  Glen and Alice were held up as they had some tins of food in their bags and also Alice had some face cream which was larger than allowed. We then had to catch a train to our Departure Gate and walk quite some distance to our particular lounge. Just as well we had started early!!  The plane was a little late leaving but made up some time and arrived at the scheduled time in San Francisco. It was a three hour flight and full - no entertainment unless you swiped your card and any food you had to buy. We did get free water or soft drinks. I had held back on boarding and let a crew member deliver a very nice cocktail to someone in first class and when he thanked me on his return I told him "I would like one of those"  and held out my boarding pass with my seat number on it!! He delivered and very nice it was too!! We were tired when we arrived at 8.40 pm  and were pleased to see the shuttle arrive to take us to our hotel.

29/12 -  After breakfast this morning Mason and Glen went out to get a small rental car for the day while I did some washing. We then drove over the bridge to pick up the cases we had left with Jeremy.  He suggested we drive around the coast, after crossing the bridge into town, and then through the park which we did, stopping now and then to look at places of interest. It was starting to get dark so we decided to head to Fishermans Wharf where we had a meal (large shrimps) and a coffee and strolled around taking in the atmosphere. It was lovely with the Christmas lights still going, lots of families and groups of young people and I suppose tourists like us, just wandering around. There was lots going on as well - artists painting and bands playing etc. Back "home"  then to catch up with family on Skype and Viber.  Mason has now developed a cold - must have caught it from me! I am dozing him up!!  He has had enough of driving - what a great job he as done. Now he can sit back and just enjoy. We will use the underground in London and the Coach to Southampton then will be able to rest for a few days once we are on the ship.
