09/01/13. -  We were up early this morning and out on the front balcony just outside our room, to watch us arrive in Tenerife, then it was up for some breakfast and off the ship at 9am. We found a driver for the day who spoke English and for a negotiated price said he would show us the sights. He ended up taking us up Mount Teide to the huge crater there and through the National Park. It was then into the old town for a coffee and to check our emails etc and a quick look at the shops, to the supermarket for some booze  and back to the ship just after 4pm. We had him for over 6 hours and a font  of knowledge about the country he was. We all enjoyed the day and were surprised at how big Tenerife is.  Once home the boys decided to taste the rum they had bought and I thought it was about time I got into the pool. No surges as the ship was still in Port and no one in the pool so I managed to swim 100 lengths!! Felt good too. It was then time to get ready for dinner -no fuss today -casual dress only required!  The entertainment tonight was The MacDonald Brothers from Scotland -they were finalists in UK X Factor -I enjoyed them but I think Mason slept through most of it !  Having an early night and hope to get up for a swim tomorrow. 

10/01/13  -  Had another swim today and didn't have to get up early to do it - not so many people using the pool but that might change once the weather gets really hot.  Mason went to a couple of talks, one about the Concorde and the other by a yachtie who was on the "around the world race".  Other than going to choir practice I relaxed by the pool and read. Think I'll give the choir a miss - its a bit of hit and miss and quite disorganized - guess we were spoilt with the one on Dawn Princess.  We were invited to the Captains " Welcome on Board " party at 6pm then it was on to dinner and the show which was very good as usual. We decided not to go dancing tonight, instead went and sat by the pool with a cup of coffee, did contemplate sitting in the spa pool but instead went to bed and watched a bit of TV before going to sleep. 

11/01/13  -  This morning we had breakfast delivered to our cabin - how decadent is that? Off to a talk on what to do in Salvadore then upstairs for a coffee and I stayed to write this blog while Mase and Glen went to listen to the Yachtie again.  Did my 100 lengths in the pool agin and then off to play 500 at 4pm We wanted to go to the Classical Piano recital at 7 pm so skipped  dinner in the dining room and had a quick bite to eat at the buffet. Andre the Comedian/Magician was on again tonight  and he was even better than his first show. Mason and I went and had a hot spa then to Glen's cabin for a drink before bed. 

12/01/13. -  Had my hair cut this morning - expensive but the best cut I've ever had and worth every penny. The hairdresser was a Kiwi!  Mason went to three sessions this morning, talk on what to do in Rio, the Yachtie and another on the Concorde, so that kept him busy. Lunch and then ventured to the laundry to do some washing - I have tried to do underwear each night but large garments a bit difficult. 

We seem to have a regular group for 500 at 4pm and both of us are enjoying the game and the conversation.  Dinner at 6.30 then show. Jennifer Fair ( the opera singer) gave her second concert tonight and was most enjoyable - The three entertainers are off in Recife and a new lot on. We went dancing for a while then to Deal or No Deal - lots of fun!! Clocks back again tonight so don't know where we are really compared to home. Sorry Paula for waking you with my txt - why do you keep your phone on at night??  Quite late to bed as we watched a bit of TV when we got back to our cabin.

13/01/13. -  Another relaxing day, wish I had bought some handwork to do, did try to get some supplies in US and London with no luck.  Mason went to a number of lectures which he enjoyed and we both played cards in the afternoon other than that I just read by the pool. Dinner and the show which was the MacDonald brothers again. Went to listen to the choir give a performance - they sounded good. 

14/01/13. -  Went to a talk on taking great photos which I enjoyed but other than that and cards sat by the pool and read my book. Mason again went to his usual lectures - the last as the presenters are also off in Recife.  Dinner and show again and an early night as we are in Recife tomorrow, our first South American port. Looking forward to it.
