12th Dec 2012 - Up reasonably early, had breakfast and packed up then travelled South to Mendocino. This town was once an old lumbar port, settled in 1852 and later became a ghost town. It has now become a highly competent community of artists. Leaving Mendocino we travelled through a very bendy forest road to Ukiah where we are staying tonight. At one point in the forest we saw some hippies celebrating a wedding - an auspicious date they said - 12/12/12!! This motel has a large 25 meter pool and if it was warmer I'd go for a swim. It does have some hot spa pools as well which we might use later on.

11th Dec 2012 - Today we went into Fort Bragg where we wandered around for a while, then to Noyo Harbour where we watched a fisherman catch some crabs and enjoyed the sights as we ate our lunch. Fort Bragg is quite a large town, perhaps one of the larger towns we have visited along the coast. We then continued on up the coast as far as we could go, to Westport, completely missing Rockport which was meant to be only a few miles on and then inland where we discovered a sizable Redwood Forest. They are such large trees . We basically explored the area , visited some pretty little beaches then came south through Fort Bragg again and back to the motel we had stayed in the night before. Had a very convivial evening with a few glasses of red wine from the region. Nice to talk to Paula and family on Viber - couldn't believe how clear it was.
